The Shimano Descent Type J 5'8" is a purpose built overhead jig rod designed for mechanical jigging and working jigs up to 200g. Compact, responsive and powerful, it provides the control needed to work a jig effectively while retaining plenty of strength when a fish loads up.

The 5'8" length gives anglers good leverage and direct control when jigging vertically from the boat. Rated to a maximum PE3 line, it is well suited to medium jigging applications and targeting species such as kingfish and other hard fighting offshore fish.

Spiral wrapped guides progressively transition the line around the blank, helping reduce rod twist when the rod is under load. The one piece construction provides a strong and direct connection through the blank, while the EVA grips offer a comfortable and secure hold during longer jigging sessions.

A great option for anglers wanting a dedicated PE3 mechanical jigging rod without stepping up to a heavier PE5 or PE8 setup.
