Who we are

Hey, we're Kane & Laura.

We're the family behind Riders Sports, a locally owned fishing, hunting, outdoors and sports store in the heart of Kaitaia.

We took over Riders Sports in 2024 with one simple goal – to build on a business that's been part of the Far North for generations while sharing our passion for the outdoors with our community.

When we're not in the shop, you'll usually find us outside. Whether it's surfcasting, heading offshore when the weather plays ball, hunting, camping, or simply making the most of everything the Far North has to offer, it's what we love. Our kids have grown up the same way too – fishing, hunting, riding dirt bikes and exploring the outdoors since they could walk.

That's why we love what we do.

We don't just sell outdoor gear – we live it. We stock brands we trust, offer honest advice, and genuinely enjoy helping others make the most of their time outdoors, whether they're heading out on their first fishing trip or planning their next big adventure.

We're also proud to support our local community through schools, sports clubs, fishing competitions and community events across the Far North.
